In February 2023, David Hayes traveled to Pristina, Kosovo to conduct Joseph Vella’s Hyland Mass, Opus 130 with the Kosovo Philharmonic. It was commissioned by New Yorker, Christopher Hyland, in 2013 as a call to peace and unity for people throughout the world.

Written for boy soprano, soprano, alto, tenor and bass soloists besides an SATB choir and orchestra, this is the third performance of the Mass. It received its international premiere under the baton of Maestro Hayes and the New York Choral Society at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, in 2016.

The concert was a great success and was well received by the audience that included numerous dignitaries such as the President of Kosovo, the President of Albania, the Ambassador of the USA to Kosovo and the Bishop of Pristina.
